Dr. Curt Connors.
The Lizard. Great in the comics, but my heart is with the animated version of this bad boy. I'll never be able to shake the image of Spider-man making water skis and a propeller out of webbing. Beautiful! It's been a while since I looked at them, but I remember McFarlane doing a pretty killer story with the good doctor in the Spider-man comics.

What the ?!..
Another note book sketch. Spider sense is tingling and for good reason. Over the next couple of post, I'm going to do some of my favorite Spider-man bad guys. Just the classics. There won't be any clones or carnage. They were the worst thing to happen to comics since Superman died and came back to life with that stupid mullet. Stay tuned web heads.

10 down.....
Do you know where you were ten years ago? Neither do I. Well, not really. I know that I just finished college and could not have been happier. I always hated school, even if I was drawing for my credits. So, I got my diploma ( which I never had to use ) and started looking for work. And looking back at it all now, I'm amazed that I'm still doing what I love to do. It hasn't always been a blast, or easy. But, nothing is. I've been lucky to have worked with some awesome people, on some highly creative projects and for some great studios. Thanks to all. Extra special thanks to my family and friends.

Style baby, style. Example 1.
Everyone knows what they want. It's just really hard sometimes to convey that information to others. Especially when it comes to the look for an animated show or short. It's all part of the process. Now, I know. For anyone who works in the animation/illustration industry this is old news. But, for those who don't... here's a little show and tell. Some directors or producers know exactly what they want. Some, even design the entire look of a show themselves. That's great! But what if, you know what you want, but you can't draw? You go out and get someone who can. But, it doesn't stop there. Just because someone can draw, doesn't mean that the job is done. It's still a matter of trial and error. Without getting into the specifics, here are some different takes on an idea. Same two characters, different styles. This one was too cartoony.

Boards and concept 2
Here are some boards I did a few years back. It was a concept for a quick 15 second short. But, then another job came up and this baby was put on the back burner. I'd still like to get around to doing it someday. The boards are pretty clean. I was going to use them as a sort of rough character design. I should also state that I did these before the remake of war of the worlds came out. Ahead of the curve as usual.

Helping hand
Well, it's been a while. Here's something out of my sketch book. This guy started out as a sort of cartoony caricature of Titus Pullo from the series Rome. Then I realized that it looked nothing like him. So, why waste a character. He doesn't have a name yet, but he's gonna have a pretty important role in a story I'm working on. I can't let you in on the good stuff just yet, but it does deal with this big lug and the kid from the previous posts. More to come. Hopefully sooner than later.

Out of ideas..
Here's a couple from the old sketch book. I've always had the tendency to draw fantasy type stuff whenever I'm out of ideas or just bored. I guess I played too much D&D... so, what? I played D&D. The kid is a running character I have. Poor guy, he's usually facing some crazy creature. The dragon, well, I figure I could make him the kid's buddy.

Get your guns...
Well, I finally got a scanner. Time to start scanning. This is an older drawing, but it's close to my heart. Introducing... Johnny Enduro!! I drew this up to get a feel for the character and to see what he'd look like having a bunch of weapons on him. I've included the rough pencils just for fun. Keep your eyes peeled for more Johnny enduro action and a bunch more stuff.

Well, well...
The first drawing of 07!... on this post that is. A quick sketch in photoshop. I think the set up here is, that the kid was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I'm pretty sure he made it out of it okay though. Goog thing he had that really tiny sword. Keep your eyes peeled for more action from this faceless character.

New year , no new things....
Well, it's 2007 and I haven't put up anything in quite some time. Now there are many reasons for this. The major one being I'm lazy. Another good reason is that I just got my hands on a new computer and just, just, hooked up the internet. I know, I'm lame. Anyhow, having killed my bank account, not having a scanner or photoshop avaliable to me right now, I'm in a bit of a posting limbo. But, I'll try my damndest to get some stuff up here. To satisfy any drawing needs you may have, check out the folks in the know section. They got some great stuff up.
